Welcome to Stingray Swim Team

Congratulations to our JO swimmers! Bobby Filler, Olivia Hrinko, Rose Mercer, Maya Yoshikawa, Cassidy Heaton and Martha Hood had a great meet! Almost every time they hit the water they swam a lifetime best. Cassidy finished in the top 16 four times with two 4th place finishes (500 and 1000 freestyles); Maya finished in the top 8 five times with a 3rd place finish in the 100 back and a 2nd place finish in the 50 fly; and Martha finished in the top 8 all seven times she swam winning the 100 breaststroke and coming in 2nd in the 200 breaststroke. Martha was also the 3rd place high point finisher in the girls 15-18 division. Awesome meet everyone! Our club is a USS year round competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction for all ages and abilities. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve their swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability, from novice to JO qualifier to high school swimmer to those who want to swim in college.

We emphasize the lifetime value of the sport, the importance of teamwork, the necessity of a thinking approach to training and the positive aspects of competition. Swimmers learn skills while they build strength and endurance. They learn to plan for success, to cope with setbacks and to take responsibility for themselves and their teammates. Our team environment encourages young people to develop self-discipline, consistency and reliability. And they have fun while they’re doing it!

The most visible goal of our program is to help young people develop their individual potential in the sport of competitive swimming. Our program provides a good foundation for those swimmers who wish to go on to high school and/or college swim teams. All swimmers, regardless of their individual abilities, will receive encouragement and comprehensive instruction.

Stingray Swim Team strives to make practice times convenient for families. Swimmers can choose between several workout schedules, both at The Alaska Club South and the UAF Patty Pool. Swimmers are encouraged to practice as often as possible - up to six days a week

All of our coaches, as members of the American Swim Coaches Association, have access to the most comprehensive training and certification program for youth coaches of any sport in the United States. They provide assurances that the time children spend in swimming will be quality time.

Stingray Swim Team, a non profit club, is run by its elected Board of Directors which meets several times each year. All members are welcome at each meeting and encouraged to be involved in team activities and fund-raisers.

We are constantly growing and training young swimmers to maintain a well rounded competitive swim team. Thank you for joining us. We are looking forward to meeting you.
